Earbender: Ha ha, yes...
I am a week into my new year Jim Sclavunos beard and the word idiosyncratic keeps suggesting itself. Oh well, it's all pretty sad.
Rolling Stone reports that the Flaming Lips are nearing the completion of a collaborative album whose roster is deep as it is aesthetically diverse, from Nick Cave, Yoko Ono, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros to Neon Indian. And the artists Lips lead singer Wayne Coyne has thrown the invite to but as of this post have not said Y E S: Ke$ha, Lykke Li and Erykah Badu. The album doesn't have an official release date yet.
Feeling Sickly? Dark? Ghoulish? Brooding? Gloomy? Try the Live! I See Dead People Tumblr that features a collection of classic album covers transformed so that the deceased band members are erased. The T Rex, Jeff Buckley, Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Nick Drake are particularly disturbing.
I pose a question. Who doesn't cover the Misfits at one point or anutha? Wavves have released a lo-fi tribute on lead singer's Nathan Williams' twitter account. Did I mention the hand claps?
