Earbender #2 - The Cure

Poof! I was intending on mentioning, in a completely transparent, cloying, and thus  discardable way, Beckett's short novel, The Unnameable in this riveting edition of all things Bending-Ear so I could marvel at the contemplative abundance of my okay cerebral product, and it worked!

One missed-bus-ride walk home and the electro-chemical signals were all ago-go about starting my own line of organic cookies called Depression Cookies. Imagine ghostly sugar cookies with French written on them, "Je suis désolée," for instance. Then I butterflied on to more weighty subject matter like this musical blog.

There are some quote-on-quote big shows coming down the pike. One of which is the English, post-punk, new wave, gothic pop band The Cure. The Cure have been around for 30 years and in that time have released some iconic records such as Head On the Door (1985), Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (1987), and Disintegration (1989).

Their current tour, "Reflections," will feature their first three records: Three Imaginary Boys (1979), Seventeen Seconds (1980) and Faith (1981) played in their entirety. Within the scope of those first three records you will feel Three Imaginary Boys' pugnacious, abrupt and spare debut; to the descending dark, if not bleak, mechanical atmosphere of their second record, Seventeen Seconds. By the time, you get to Faith, The Cure's third record, what was once atmosphere is now just a somber, inviolable spread.

Sound like fun? Sure! Just wear something dark and disturbingly sexy.

I'm going to hit up the nice people at NewYork.com for some press passes for this one. The Beacon Theatre will host the gig. The Beacon is an Art Deco, multi-tiered honey of a building known for its acoustics. Located on upper Broadway in Manhattan, the Beacon also offers a personal intimacy with a comfortable seating capacity of about 3,000 as well as mandatory bag searches.

Please think of me when you hear The Cure play Funeral Party.

Later.
