The Doors Release a New Documentary

I was filled with glee when I first heard about about this new documentary about the Doors about the making of L.A. Woman. What girl isn't ever-obsessed with the brooding heartthrob Jim Morrison? Even after 4 decades since their last album, every music-loving generation still has a fascination with the group. The screening of the film took place at the same time as the 40th anniversary CD reissue of their final album, and also includes on unreleased track "She Smells So Nice/Rock Me". After all these years, that's a treat to die-hard Doors fans. The song was recorded during an early session for L.A. Woman, an album that was recorded in just 10 days.

Members of the band were at the screening including Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, with John Densmore absent. All three did however appear in their latest collaboration with Dubstep producer Skrillex in another documentary set for February release RE: GENERATION. The documentary features remixes from different Dj's of old classics from rock to country and blues. Manzarek, though hesitant at first to do the collaboration with digital music, was happy with the end result of the song and stated he would be willing to do it again.

So, as the remaining members of the Doors keep busy, they also plan on releasing more treasures from the band. Krieger states to see some remastered films, unreleased tracks from early recordings (London Fog), and every recording from the L.A. Woman sessions, too, all while they (Krieger and Manzarek) tour in Europe this summer.
