Outdoor Bound Adventures

In spite of all of the great opportunities available in New York to get you fit and staying healthy during the year, sometimes it's just good to get away. Enter Outdoor Bound Adventures, a program that gets you out of the city and active on a number of guided trips. Imagine an outdoor activity that you'd like to do, and they likely offer it -- from whitewater rafting to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to horseback riding and wine tasting, the list goes on and on.

There are over 180 different types of trips on tap that range from day trips, multi-day trips and adventure travel. Adventures are offered year round, and Outdoor Bound Adventures does its best to match each activity with the ideal weather (ice climbing and biathlons in winter, kayaking and sailing in the summer, you get it). For those who consider themselves one with nature, Outdoor Bound Adventure has a great respect for it and follows a practice of leave no trace, striving to enjoy the outdoors without negatively impacting it.

While I've never done one, I'm considering going on a day or multi-day adventure this winter. It sounds like a good way to push yourself physically, and go beyond your daily gym class or workout. I was a bit concerned about not being able to get to one of the cool locations, but was happy to hear that Outdoor Bound Adventure has pick-up spots around the city, so travel is no hassle. Now, which one to go on...
