Beard Papa's Cream Puffs are a NYC Delight

In the food world, the word “chain” usually sends shivers down the spine of a foodie. Chain” is often synonymous with evil corporations, billions of dirty dollars, unhappy animals, but most importantly, mass-produced/lackluster food.

Since there is only one Beard Papa’s location in New York City, “chain” would seemingly be the last word you’d use to describe the delectable cream puff eatery. However, the 250 locations in Japan, and 300 total throughout the world would probably change your mind. So is it possible that Beard Papa’s and McDonald’s play golf and sip martinis together on the weekends? Hardly.

While Beard Papa’s is a household name in Japan, the word is just starting to get out about their exquisite pastries here in the states. The cream puff has been one of the most popular pastries throughout Asia, so it was just a matter of time before the buttery treat caught on in New York, Los Angeles, and other food-oriented cities.

After trying a Beard Papa’s cream puff, you will instantly become a cream puff snob. Unlike sad-looking pastries that sit in those little street corner trucks, the ones at Beard Papa's are freshly baked, and aren’t pumped with their light, heavenly custard until the second you order it.

There is no shortage of custard flavors either. Once you pick out your cream puff shell, you can get it filled with original vanilla, chocolate, green tea, coffee, earl grey tea, pumpkin or strawberry. Or if you’re more of a chocolate and vanilla type of person, Beard Papa’s popular eclair will do the trick; it's filled with vanilla custard and dipped in delicious dark chocolate.

Even though on paper, Beard Papa’s is a chain, no one will doubt that it is a chain done correctly.
