Best Beauty Bet: Mirabella
A few months ago, I was lucky enough to be invited to a special event hosted by Mirabella, a cosmetics brand known for their keen attention to skin health, color selection, and well-rounded beauty. In a room filled with beauty editors who are exposed to tons of new products every day, it was refreshing to see that my peers were feeling as impressed and excited as I was about the latest developments at Mirabella.
First things first. Before getting into the genius colors that the brand has put out this season, we must discuss their use of the unique Fitzpatrick Skin Type test. Logging onto mirabellabeauty.com, the first thing you will find is a link to a questionnaire that promises to categorize your skin. Answer the ten easy questions and learn your type (I'm a Level III). You then make a choice about whether you are "Cool" or "Warm" based upon their list below of the colors that typically look best on you. You're then shown your choices of foundation. When my makeup was done at the event, I selected IIIW, and the foundation could not have been a better fit for my skin. It didn't even look like I was wearing makeup; instead my skin was creamy, even, and gorgeous. The best part? The foundation is only $35 and lasts forever; it's a worthwhile investment that will make you look great every day.
Now, for some fun... color! Mirabella's Pick 4 eye shadow palette is a great way to express your unique love of color and enhance your natural beauty. I am also a massive fan of the Velvet lip pencil, a moisturizing pencil that glides on like a creamy lipstick but stains your lips long enough that you can enjoy your red hue all day. Whether Red Velvet (a bright, punchy "true red"), or Crushed Velvet (a deep, berry hue), is more your taste, you are bound to stop traffic with these lips. $20.
Looking for a liquid liner that goes on smooth and lasts all day? Look no further than the Mirabella Magic Marker eyeliner, my absolute favorite product by the brand. You don’t have to have any makeup application experience to enjoy this one, and it is so black, you can use alone without shadow for a chic day look or pile on some shadow and lots of lash to up the ante at night. $18.
