It’s Monster Time
Lady Gaga is the inimitable princess of pop, but she's also known for her uncanny sense of style. From platinum-blond bouffants to leather pants and undies as outerwear, and meat purses to full-on man gear, there's nothing Gaga won't do in the name of fashion. As her fans, the "little monsters," can attest, anything she wears turns to gold. And while you might not be able to purchase the sort of one-of-a-kind McQueen numbers that she's known for, there are plenty of Gaga-approved looks on the market these days that are ready for purchase by the average Jane.
Barneys New York is celebrating Lady Gaga's keen fashion sense this week is "GAGA'S WORKSHOP," a special collection of looks selected specifically by the pop diva with her fans' sensibilities in mind. Enlisting the help of Nicola Formichetti, this special holiday initiative is taking over the entire floor of Barneys New York's Madison Avenue flagship store. In addition to displaying the absolute coolest duds of the season, Barneys New York will donate 25% of sales from GAGA'S WORKSHOP to the Born This Way Foundation. The Born This Way Foundation focuses on youth empowerment and equality, helping the teens of America to realize their personal worth by pushing themes of self-confidence, anty-bullying, and co-mentoring.
The collection is broken down into categories that work for everyone on your holiday shopping list-toys, cosmetics, apparel, holiday, accessories, treats, media, and jewelry. Standout looks include a pair of fingerless leather gloves with beaded detail (A-Morir by Kerin.Rose, $425), a GAGA's WORKSHOP ornament for your tree featuring the pop princess's head affixed to a motorcycle ($25), and a GAGA'S WORKSHOP exclusive onesie for the coolest New York baby ($38).
In addition to specialized GAGA'S WORKSHOP shopping bags and packaging, other trademarks of this special initiative include the avaf, or "assume vivid astro focus," a creative and explorative project encapsulating music, video, and new technology-all on display at the Barneys New York flagship as part of the GAGA'S WORKSHOP initiative. This is one pop-music-meets-fashion event that every New Yorker should scope out. More info available at barneys.com.
