La Bella Stella

Stella McCartney is one of the most chic, sensible designers we New Yorkers are lucky enough to have access to. Her looks are modern and sophisticated, pulling classic, wearable lines to the fashion forefront with the addition of interesting details (dolman sleeves, tuxedo collar) and funky patterns (geometrics, wild florals). To purchase a piece by Stella is to know that you have bought something you will love for life. While her styles certainly evolve with each season, her classic point of view makes everything she designs worthy of years of wear. Luckily for us, Stella has a new Downtown flagship just waiting to be explored.

So, what to do about the problem of price? While Stella's clothes cost what they absolutely should, there are plenty of New Yorkers who can't swing for a $2,000 blazer or $1,000 sequin top. Fret not, though. In Stella's stellar sale-going on right now-looks from her current collection have been slashed in price to much more manageable numbers. Not to mention that you'd hardly be purchasing off-season; the sale items are all appropriate for this very minute in winter weather. Purchase a piece and rip the tags off as soon as it arrives; you still have three or four months to wear it all, in some cases even longer.

This brilliant crimson fern print silk blouse, dubbed Amelia, is classic Stella with a dramatic black print set against a lovely, deep red. Hidden button closure and a simple collar closed with a single button make this a shirt that will certainly stand out in the crowd. Online, it's available in size 6, but you can also click to reserve it in-store. Originally $785, it is now on sale for a more reasonable $319.

An artfully double-breasted "tanzanite blue" wool coat with Price of Wales check is an effortlessly stylish choice that evokes both Anglomania and a touch of '80's chic. With sleeves cut just slightly short, the cuffs of your shirt will show, creating even more style appeal. This coat is seriously on sale for $959 from an original price of $2,395.

Got a bag fetish? There's no reason to worry about sizing when you go for an accessory. This large square metallic tote is made of resilient gold boucle wool and features a chain purse pouch inside. Fully lined in Stella's signature logo print, this is a statement bag that works now and will be totally spring-appropriate, too. Was $1,435; now on sale for $869.
