Breaking Down the Giants Schedule
After an uninspiring victory over the Dolphins, the Giants head up the NFC East with a 5-2 record. But the road the rest of the way gets much, much tougher for the Giants. Let's take a look at the remaining games for Big Blue to see just how difficult the Giants have it going forward.
11/6 @ New England- Unfortunately for the Giants, they face New England coming off a loss. The Patriots got shoved around by the Steelers, so you can be sure the same won't happen again at home. The Giants might be wise to take a page from the Steelers defensive playbook and play press coverage against New England's wideouts.
11/13 @ San Francisco- The 49ers have been one of the year's surprise teams, and have played as well defensively as anyone this season. Alex Smith has seen some success, finally, and San Fran has not been an easy opponent for anyone. Back-to-back tough road games for the Giants provide a great challenge.
11/20 vs. Philadelphia- Have the Eagles started figuring things out? After watching the way they dismantled Dallas, it sure seems that way. The Giants defeated Philadelphia earlier this season, but the Eagles are starting to play well, and by November 20th they may have a full head of steam. If so, look out, Giants.
11/28 @ New Orleans- Is New Orleans for real? It's hard to tell after the way they laid an egg against St. Louis Sunday; however, the Giants have to head to the Superdome for this one, which provides the Saints an outstanding home field advantage. The Giants defense should have fun handling Drew Brees and company.
12/4 vs. Green Bay- The Packers may not still be undefeated by December, but they have unquestionably been the best team in the NFL this season. The Giants get this one at home, which gives them some hope, but if the team struggled with the Seahawks' and Dolphins' offenses, Aaron Rodgers might have his way. This, of course, comes after the Giants face Michael Vick and Brees in consecutive weeks.
12/11 @ Dallas- The Giants may very well be favored in this game. Dallas is starting to fall apart, and the questions about Tony Romo only grow louder. If the Giants can keep some confidence and momentum after the most challenging part of the schedule, they will have a good chance to steal a win from Big D.
12/18 @ Washington- Another game the G-men will probably be predicted to win. The Redskins have been awful as of late, and even though weird things can happen on the road against a division rival, the 'Skins might be in their annual December malaise by this point.
12/24 @ New York Jets- A road game for the Giants in their own stadium will prove difficult for the men in blue. With the Jets crowd, the Giants' offense will have to find ways to move the ball against Darrelle Revis and company. Will the Jets offense be respectable by Christmas? We'll find out.
1/1 vs. Dallas- It's hard to predict the outcome of this matchup so far down the line, so let's just say that this will come down to who has more to play for. If one of the two teams has a chance at the playoffs, they will probably have little trouble taking this game, particularly if the other is out of contention; however, never discount the spoiler in a late-season divisional matchup.
