Earbender: “Profane With Flowers”

With the holidays having transformed the ourwhateverwarmlytogether into the traditional mutation of discounted piles of leftover merchandise and tree discardage, the inevitable question posed is How Wuz EEEIt? This year I'm baring the ruined bulb early by responding "Dreyfuss." Insert here a ho-hum request for forbearance and patience. I'm thinking of Richard Dreyfuss in 77, a Sci-Fi'd, UFO obsessed and Indiana electrical lineman slash family guy Roy Neary who builds mountainesque shapes in his kitchen. The holidays for me were the building of mountains to nada. Rather than engaging in the usual exaggerated nullification of all things festive, I chose to create my own elevation whose criteria included but was not limited to translations, exhaustion, consumption, shushing and a-ha. I came to a fistpumping conclusion: dignified struggle. Or a sweet whiff of whiskey.

I am very fortunate to have bubbling up this week the last installment in the Best Music Of 2011 series except this time around I have the privilege of presenting to you some guest picks.
