Three Things We Learned from the Jets Win
Now that we've had a full day to digest the Jets' comeback win against the Chargers, let's take the game's lessons and put them into writing for all to remember, shall we?
The Jets continue to play well from behind. The Jets don't always come back from deficits- they have lost three games this season, after all. Yet playing poorly in the first half, or even the first three quarters, hardly seems to daunt Gang Green. Mark Sanchez always seems to play his best in the fourth quarter, and it always seems Darrelle Revis saves an interception for one of the final drives. With that being said, most Jets fans wouldn't mind the team getting off to a good start every once in a while.
Shonn Greene can be an every-down back. But the Jets have to commit to him. Greene has been a polarizing figure during his time as a Jet. There are those who are convinced that if Green gets 20 carries per game, he can consistently pump out 100 yard rushing games. There are others who want Greene to get 5 carries a game, pinning the hopes of the run game on Ladanian Tomlinson or a free agent to be named later. Sunday's game against the Chargers was a win for Greene's supporters. Greene got his 20 carries, and rewarded the Jets with 112 yards on the ground. The Jets can't give up on Greene early. If they don't, they just might return to Ground and Pound for good.
Maybe we should wait until the end of the season to call Plaxico Burress a bust. We probably shouldn't call his signing a rousing success yet, either. But three touchdown catches will quiet down a lot of haters. His dropped passes hurt the team earlier in the season, but if that was what Burress needed to officially shake off the rust, then the Jet offense might finally become the unit fans hope it would be.
Bonus Learning: The Chargers are soft. A lot of people thoughts the Chargers would beat the Jets, but not I. A soft West Coast team does not come to the East Coast to defeat a physical team like the Jets. And if it was 30 degrees colder with wind and sleet outside Sunday, the Chargers would have lost by 25.
