What to Watch on Halloween Weekend

With winter in the air and plenty of crazy people roaming New York in costumes, it makes sense to stay indoors and watch TV. And though there will doubtless be plenty of scary movie marathons to keep you occupied, the sports world does not rest for Halloween.

So once the dust of the New York-less World Series settles, here is what you have to watch this weekend:

Saturday
Ottawa @ New York Rangers, 3 PM, MSG

The Rangers looks to get their first home win of the season, after having their home-opener spoiled by Toronto Thursday night. The Rangers are currently sandwiched between the Devils and Islanders in the Atlantic Division.

San Jose @ New York Islanders, 7 PM, MSG+

The Islanders have struggled to score this season, ranking 27th in the NHL in scoring with two goals per game. The Sharks, last in the Pacific Division, have been steady but unspectacular so far this year.

New Jersey Devils @ Dallas, 8 PM, MSG

The Devils travel to face the red-hot Stars, who are 7-3 and in first in the Pacific Division. The Devils will look to improve their 26th-ranked Power Play percentage.

Syracuse @ Louisville, 12 PM, ESPN3/ESPN Gameplan

Riding high off of a dominating performance against West Virginia, the Orange look to take their strong play at home on the road against Louisville. The Cardinals don't score much, but do play great defense, which will test the red-hot Syracuse offense.

West Virginia @ Rutgers, 3:30 PM, ABC

Will West Virginia's conference roulette affect the players enough to allow a 5-2 Rutgers team to stay in the race for the Big East title?

Sunday
Miami Dolphins @ New York Giants, 1 PM, CBS

Ok Giants fans, admit it. You're a tad nervous about this game. After all, Eli might be rusty after the bye week. And you saw how the team played the last time a horrible opponent came to MetLife Stadium (remember Charlie Whitehurst?). Still, the Dolphins really are THAT bad. Just ask the Jets. I don't think any of us will be surprised to find the Giants trailing or tied early, but there's too much talent, and too many potential boos from Giants fans, to allow the G-Men to actually LOSE to the Dolphins.

Of course, it's the NFL, and the Giants have lost plenty of games like this before. Who's the QB for Miami these days, anyway? The worse he is, the better he'll probably play Sunday.

I'll stop before I talk myself into actually predicting a win for Miami. We'll have plenty more this weekend about the game.
