What to Watch this Weekend

You might spend your weekend outside, picking apples or pumpkins or strawberries. Or, you might wander around, searching for the perfect Halloween costume. But for those who will spend the weekend holed up, surfing from channel to channel to looking for another sporting event to watch, you're in luck. I present to you a list to guide your viewing this weekend, both in the world of New York sports and across the country:

Friday Evening

San Jose Sharks @ New Jersey Devils- 7 PM, MSG+
The Devils are off to their best start since 2008-2009, and a matchup against the 1-3 Sharks might be just what they need to keep the puck rolling in the first few weeks of the season.

College football- #15 West Virginia @ Syracuse- 8PM, ESPN
Coming off of a bye week, the Orange try to knock off the ranked Mountaineers at home. A win against West Virginia would put the Orange one win away from bowl eligibility.

Saturday

New Jersey Devils at Pittsburgh Penguins- 7PM, MSG+
The Devils try to stay hot against the Sydney Crosby-less Penguins.

New York Rangers @ Edmonton Oilers- 10PM, MSG+
The Rangers continue their Canadian tour in a late start against Edmonton.

Islanders @ Florida Panthers- 7:30 PM, MSG+
The 3-1 Islanders are an early surprise, as John Tavares looks to keep the early-season momentum in Florida.

#20 Auburn @ #1 LSU- 3:30 PM, CBS
LSU hosts the defending national champs. Can Auburn give LSU a scare, or will the Tigers keep on rolling?

#6 Wisconsin at #16 Michigan State- 8PM, ESPN
No team has tested Wisconsin yet this season. Michigan State figures to be the toughest battle for the Badgers, but without suspended lineman William Gholston, can the Spartans stop the run?

Sunday

San Diego Chargers @ New York Jets, 1PM, CBS
For a lackluster slate of games this week in the NFL, Chargers-Jets may be the most appealing. Questions abound for both teams. Can the Chargers win a 1:00 game in the Eastern Time zone? Can the Chargers match the Jets' physicality? Is the Jets offense really as bad as they've seemed at times? How will LT play as a starter against his old team? What terrible decision will Norv Turner make Sunday?

We'll discuss this game in more depth over the weekend, but a win would go a long way to quieting the issues the Jets have experienced over the last few weeks.
