A Perfect Summer Saturday for Booze Hounds in NYC

What better way to get into the weekend, well, spirit than by indulging in a booze-filled day in one of the most cocktail, beer and wine-soaked cities in the world? With distillery tours, booze-focused cruises and brunches brimming with drinks, this will be one of the best days this summer that you didn’t remember.

10:30am: Brunch with a Punch
It’s probably best you don’t start with an epic, bottomless brunch considering all the drink-filled fun we have planned for you today. Instead, fill up on hearty fare like Norwegian-style eggs benedict, Nutella French toast and crispy home fries with caramelized onion at The Butterfly. There’s no shame in a tipple, though, and this Midwestern-style eatery offers tasty highball glasses of house-smoked coke and rye whiskey, a grapefruit-tinged paloma and of course, plenty of mimosas. 225 W Broadway, 646-692-4943;

12pm: Drink Beer on a Boat
For a new way to enjoy beer, take Manhattan by Sail’s Craft Beer Tasting Sail along the Hudson River. Each weekend they get a different New York State brewery to showcase their craft suds. Each $55 ticket gets you the hour-and-forty-five minute cruise plus tastings of all the beers while you nibble on a gourmet cheese and a charcuterie platter. All this takes place on a stunning 158-foot long and 120-foot tall replica of an 1854 cargo schooner. Departs from Clipper City in Battery Park; get tickets

3pm: Take a Winery Tour
After your beer adventure on the high seas, take a break from suds and try a glass of wine instead. At City Winery, a winery, music venue, restaurant and education center, they offer tours of their facilities every day from 2 to 5pm.  At the end, sample some of the good in their large, airy setting and get a voucher for 20-percent off their next retail wine purchase. Reserve a tour by emailing them at 155 Varick St., 212-608-0555;

5pm: Dinner and Cocktail Time
You definitely want to have dinner at Distilled, after all, the name of this new American restaurant fits right in with the theme and they are known to make a mean cocktail. Order the TriBeCan, a drink made with bourbon, Carpano Antica, chocolate bitters and lemon oil, or try the refreshing Derby Shrub, a concoction of mint, homemade apricot shrub and chamomile rye. Pair that with chef Shane Lyons’ country-fried duck and waffles, a fresh lobster roll with sweet corn “mayo,” and beer-battered onion rings, and get ready for round two. 211 W Broadway, 212-601-9514;

7pm: Pub Crawl and Punk Rock Tour
Long before the boom in breweries and distilleries, NYC has been home to plenty of bars and cultures that have supported this lifestyle. Mainly, the punk rock fraction of the city. For those looking to get a little history in with their drinking, book Levys’ Unique New York’s Hey Ho! Let’s Go! Punk Rock on the Bowery Pub Crawl & Walking Tour. This local company runs this private, two to three hour tour whenever you want to take it, all you have to do is book in advance. Tours start at $250 for two people and they also offer group rates.
