This year’s Space & Science Festival at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, running from July 16th to July 20th, promises to bea stellar party for all ages. Not only is the iconic aircraft carrier-turned-museum home to the space shuttle Enterprise, it’s 3rd annual flight deck festival features appearances by astronauts, an astronomy night, movie screenings and plenty of interactive activities, displays and exhibitions.
The theme of this year’s party celebrates “the final frontier” and innovations in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Highlights include presentations and autograph signings by NASA astronauts, a free screening of the movie Gravity and plenty of hands-on demonstrations and activities from NASA and science partners.
Now docked at Pier 86, the Intrepid’s mission is to honor heroes and educate visitors of all ages with hands-on history displays and exhibitions — which include an impressive array of high-tech aircraft and vessels.
Many of this year’s festival activities will be on the Pier itself, which you are free to join. Programs on deck, inside the museum and the Space Shuttle Pavilion are free with museum admission.
The Space & Science Festival is on view at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum from July 16 to July 20, 2014.
