If you have ever wondered what foods contain aphrodisiacs, aside from the obvious chocolate and oysters, and wanted to go the extra mile by learning how to cook with them, chef Fed Federer’s class is right up your alley. Federer has been studying and working with aphrodisiacs for years under his company, Sex on the Table, and in the city he is the go-to guy for all thing edible and sexy. Take one of his courses solo or bring your partner, it’s a tutorial and three-course dinner party that’s sure to drum up plenty of conversation.
What to Expect: In about three-and-a-half hours, students will learn how to prepare a three-course meal using known aphrodisiac ingredients such as strawberries, chickpeas and beets, and then get to sit down with their fellow classmates and eat it. No, you won’t be instantly sexed up and ready to rumble, but you will learn enough to make your own seductive meal at home. “Students learn a lot of dirty little secrets of chefs, and they experience the courage to bring their creative cooking up a notch,” says Federer. “They get an insight in a chef’s mind and learn easy techniques to master their flavors beyond the limits of a written recipe.” Plus, the chef explains why certain ingredients work as an aphrodisiac, all the while driving in the concept that it’s all about how you cook the meal and serve it to your darling that really makes it work as a love potion, not so much spiking it with pistachios and chocolate.
