All Broadway Shows Open Tonight Despite Snowstorm

The show must go on! Despite snow falling on Manhattan (Central Park got half a foot) and daytime highs of just 13 degrees, all Broadway shows will be staged tonight. Just remember to bundle up – overnight highs will be in the single digits. But it will be warm and toasty inside the theaters as the chandelier crashes at the Phantom of the Opera, the witches fly in Wicked and Frankie Valli croons in Jersey Boys.

It is a rare event for Broadway to go dark due to weather. Two recent examples are 2011′s Hurricane Irene and 2012′s Superstorm Sandy. Theaters did stay open during blizzards in 2010 and 2013.
