If you missed her Tony-winning performance in Pippin last year, you will soon have the chance to see Andrea Martin back in the role of Berthe when she returns to the show on September 2.
Martin’s trip back to the kingdom is planned for just 24 performances, ending on September 21. She departed the musical back in September 2013 to film the NBC comedy Working the Engels. She also appeared in Act One on Broadway this spring.
Tony winner Priscilla Lopez recently took over for Annie Potts in the role of Berthe, and will play her last performance as previously scheduled on August 31. Thanks to the revival’s circus theme, the role of Pippin’s grandmother is high-flying, with a dramatic trapeze routine (which made our list of Top Broadway Moments).
Pippin, playing at the Music Box Theatre, currently stars Kyle Dean Massey in the title role and Ciara Renee as the Leading Player. The show won the 2013 Tony for Best Musical Revival. Director Diane Paulus also took home a trophy.
