Nominees Announced for Off-Broadway Alliance Awards

Nominees have been chosen for the fourth annual Off-Broadway Alliance Awards. Winners will be announced on May 27. The alliance is an organization of Off-Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing professionals. Categories include Best New Musical, New Play, Revival, Unique Theatrical Experience, and Family Show, a genre largely ignored by other New York theater awards. Special Legend of Off-Broadway Awards will be presented to producer, theater owner, and general manager Edmund Gaynes, director Andre Gregory, and playwrights Terrence McNally (currently represented on Broadway by Mothers and Sons) and Wallace Shawn. Posthumous Hall of Fame Award will go to Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ruth Malaczech of the avant-garde theater troupe Mabou Mines, and director Nicholas Martin.
