Post-Theater Bar: Where to Drink After ‘Kinky Boots’

If the shoe fits, drink out of it

You’re going to see Kinky Boots at the Al Hirschfeld Theater and you need to know where to get a drink afterward? No problem! We’ve got just the right post-theater bar for Broadway’s quirky musical ode to footwear.

The Show: When a shoe factory nearly collapses after four generations in business, straitlaced Charlie Price teams up with drag queen Lola for a crafty solution: sell custom footwear for the cross-dress set. The star-studded team behind it includes pop icon Cyndi Lauper, who took home a Tony for Best Score, and two-time Tony winner Harvey Fierstein, who wrote the book. The musical took home six Tonys altogether in 2013, including Best Musical.

The Bar: Yes, it’s an Irish sports bar. But Hibernia has a kinky secret: it’s the home of the “shoe shot,” where one can down a drink served out of a leather-studded high heel. It’s also known to be the scene of table dancing — after the big game is over, of course.

What to Drink: If not up for a shoe shot (drinker’s choice, starting at $7.50), a dozen draught beers and more by the bottle are the fit.

For where to eat before Kinky Boots, see our pre-theater restaurant suggestion.
