You’re going to see Pippin at the Music Box Theatre and you need to know where to get a drink afterward? No problem! We’ve got just the place in the “corner of the sky.”
The Show: Pippin, a young prince, is having an identity crisis. As the heir to throne of his father, King Charlemagne, he feels the pressure to find his path. But where? And as what? A warrior? A lover? As he struggles toward self-discovery, the acting troupe, guided by the Leading Player, dazzle with show-stopping acrobatics on a big-top stage during musical numbers such as “Corner of the Sky” and “Magic to Do.” Diane Paulus’ Tony Award-winning revival also pays ample homage to the magic of original director Bob Fosse.
The Bar: You’re bound to find your own corner in the sky at the Sky Room, the city’s highest bar and lounge. Set 34 stories up, smack in the middle of Times Square, panoramic views of Manhattan unfold at every angle.
What to Drink: The cocktail list was culled from some of NYC’s top mixologists, including New York Distilling Company’s Allen Katz. Since you’re up so high, sip on a Skynnirita — Patron Silver with Patron Citronge, mint, fresh lime and mango juice ($15) — or a Mile High ($15), a blend of Bombay Sapphire gin, peach liqueur, Chambord and prosecco.
