What Do You Love About New York?
1. I love Madison Square Park. It’s close to where I live and relaxing. And I love the proximity of the Flatiron Building. When I walk to my corner and see the Flatiron Building, it makes me feel like I’m in New York. It reminds me that I’m a black girl from Alabama and that I’m in the city living my dreams. So Madison Square Park and particularly the Flatiron Building reminds me of all that.
2. And I love Central Park in the summer, especially the Sheep Meadow, which is so beautiful. There’s great people watching – a lot of really hot shirtless guys playing ball and Frisbee. Central Park is placed in the middle of New York and has so much green and so much life that’s it’s really calming and relaxing. When I visit, I feel like I’ve gone away without going away.
3. Also, I love L’express, a restaurant on 20th and Park. It’s a little French bistro open 24/7. They have great, reasonably priced food and the staff has always been really amazing to me. It just feels like a great place for me to go and hang. Sometimes I sit outside. It’s weird sitting outside at places, now that I’m kind of famous. Their French Fries are my favorite French fries in the city. They’re actually the best French fries in the city, although I’m trying not to eat French fries now. Also I get the salmon that they use for the salads and I just have that by itself and it’s amazing.
