What do you love about New York?
1. For me, the beauty of New York is to enjoy the energy of the arts. It’s one of the most concentrated places for art in the world. When I say art, I mean, the best of the best. To see the precision of the dancers at the ballet to hearing the best voices in the world at the opera.
2. My brother [Rajendra Roy] is the film curator at the MoMA. I love to see films that he recommends at the screenings they do. Those are things they do that wouldn’t happen anywhere else. … Also, it’s so great to be able to take my little girls to the MoMA and see all this ‘weird art.’ It allows them to know that it’s not about perfection, it’s about the thought. And those who have a thought, who can make it reality, that’s the only difference between artists. We all can think and we all can dream, but the people who dream it and actually create it—that’s the difference. My favorite room at the MoMA is the Monet room. I can sit and look at water lilies, and it literally relaxes my soul. I love it.
3. I love ABC Kitchen. It’s clean, beautiful food. You can eat as much as you want. There are small portions of the most amazing mixes. You might have apricot mixed with this, mixed with that. It might not sound appetizing, but it’s the best. I’m such a foodie.
