"We love to go to Joe Allen. It’s our little place to go after the theater."

Tony Nominee Danny Burstein’s New York

This Broadway veteran has starred in many shows including 'The Snow Geese,' 'Golden Boy,' 'Follies,' 'South Pacific,' 'The Drowsy Chaperone,' and that’s just in the past seven years. He can now be seen as Herr Schultz in the revival of 'Cabaret,' for which he just received his fifth Tony nomination.

What do you love about New York?

1. Riverside Park is one of our favorite places. My wife [actress Rebecca Luker] and I live nearby so you can constantly find us there  – Rebeca running or me shooting hoops. I like playing pickup games.

2. We love to go to Joe Allen. It’s our little place to go after the theater and right on 46th street. We have a lot of friends that we run into there and they have great, great burgers. Now that McHale’s is not around, it probably has the new best burger in New York City. It can very clubby. And then it can be very quiet and intimate. We’ve had so many wonderful times there over the years.

3. I went walking around Lincoln Center today to do a reading and I have to say it’s also one of my favorite places in the world, let alone New York City. For me its family there and where I spent two-and-a-half years doing South Pacific, which I absolutely loved. So being in Lincoln Center brings me back to that time. I love the whole community of all the buildings. They’re all connected and there’s so much wonderful art going on 24/7. I love the lawn on top of the restaurant. It is so pretty because you have a great vantage point not only to the street below but the people and the fountain. It really is gorgeous.
