Zen in the City: Spotlight on Hotel Spas

Need a place to unwind? Those top properties have spas that guarantee relaxation and luxury

New York is many things – exciting, inspiring, fast-paced, creative. But one word that might not immediately spring to mind is relaxing.

Few people come to New York specifically just to chill out, but after a long day of sightseeing and pounding the pavement, nothing feels better than some spa-side pampering. And the city has a renewed focus on amenities that do just that. “In New York, we have some of the most luxurious hotels in the world,” says Kelsey Blodget, editor director of Oyster.com. “And if you’re a luxury hotel, spas have become a very important part of the package.”

The following hotel spas are not only beautiful in design, but are consistently reinventing treatments and packages. “In New York, we’re at the forefront of trends, and different spa sensory experiences have become popular,” Blodget says. “Scents are really big in New York now, as are experience showers and wine-based therapies.” Find everything from ancient massage techniques to cutting-edge treatments at the following hotel spas.
