Avocado Sandwich from Creative Juice

Eat like a model; enjoy like a gourmand

You now know where models hang out during Fashion Week, but if you want to know what they actually eat, head over to the Creative Juice cafes within selected branches of Equinox. While gym food was once a depressing affair — limp, flavorless salads and bland, sodden wraps — Equinox smartly partnered with Shake Shack superhero Danny Meyer, also the genius behind Gramercy Tavern. This is a man who knows his food, and the result is healthy, flavorful fresh-pressed juices and tasty, ready-to-eat meals.

Creative Juices Cafe Avocado sandwich

The avocado sandwich ($7), a stack of the soft, green slivers with cheddar cheese, crisp sunflower sprouts, crunchy Bac ‘Uns and vegan aioli seems to be a top seller so far; fit for hearty eaters and the fiercest runway walkers alike, it ticks all the boxes for a wholesome, substantial, and delicious guilt-free lunch. Soups, such as the cannellini bean and escarole with turkey and rosemary ($5) are another favorite, but the juices ($7.95-$9.95) developed by Meyer’s Union Square Café chef/partner, Michael Romano, are the primary focus. Leave it to these pros to make even the green juices not only palatable, but crave-worthy. Sold bottled or freshly made, the juices are also components of a cleanse program–very popular with the models, of course.
