New Brooklyn-Based Food Vendors at the Barclays Center

Between a nail-biter of a World Series and the height of football season, you could be forgiven for missing the news — the 2013-2014 NBA season kicks off (tips off?) this week. But the Barclays Center hasn’t forgotten. In preparation for the Brooklyn Nets’ second season, the center has expanded its food game, which now features 55 vendors in its “Brooklyn Taste” food program. That’s an increase from the already-impressive 37 vendors last year. Headed to a game? Here’s what to expect.

Old Favorites: Some of last year’s most popular stands–including Fatty Cue BBQ from the Fatty family of restaurants, heroes from Paisanos Meat Market, and Sicilian slices from old-school pizzeria L&B Spumoni Gardens – will be back in action.

Inside the Venue: Barclays is bringing in several Brooklyn favorites this year, including Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie, a Red Hook favorite well-known for its “Swingles” (chocolate-covered key lime pies on a stick), and Chocolate Room of Park Slope, beloved for their chocolate-laden cakes and brownies.

On the Street: Frozen yogurt shop Let’s Yo! and candy shop The Sugar Factory will open on Flatbush Avenue, for a quick sweet stop before or after the game.
