This weekend the enduringly stylish Paper magazine is hosting its second annual Super(Duper)Market, a three-day pop-up superstore/spectacle comprised of the “it list” of food purveyors stretching from East Coast to West. More than 35 vendors will fill a 4,000-square-foot NoLiTa space, in what is promised to be “the most inventive food creators, makers and small batch products” that Paper co-publisher Kim Hastreiter could find.
Some of the fun stuff going in our baskets: Clare Crespo’s Crocheted Oysters from New Orleans, which are made entirely of yarn and completely adorable; 24-carat gold flake-infused gummi bears from Brooklyn’s Dee and Ricky’s; drinking vinegars from Portland and NYC’s Pok Pok (shrub cocktails are all the rage now, kids); fried blintzes from the Gefilteria; and quirky ice cream flavors from San Francisco’s Humphry Slocombe. Think of it as a wider-ranger Smorgasburg with a glossy makeover.
268 Mulberry St., Friday Aug. 2, 11am-4pm; Saturday Aug. 3, 11am-6pm; Sunday Aug. 4, 11am-4pm. For a complete list of vendors, visit papermag.com/2013/07/super_duper_market.php
