Celebrate National Sibling Day with These Famous NYC Siblings

April 10 is National Sibling Day. In honor of the day, which honors brothers and sisters everywhere, we’ve compiled a list of famous New York celebrity siblings you might want to know more about.

Beyoncé and Solange Knowles
Although the Knowles sisters were born and bred in Texas, today they are bona fide New Yorkers. Elder sister Beyoncé lives in TriBeCa, while kid sister Solange resides in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Bonded by music, these pop-star sisters performed together in the music video for Beyoncé’s “Get Me Bodied” off her 2006 B’Day album.

Jennifer and Lynda Lopez
These Bronx-born beauties, raised in Castle Hill, are native New Yorkers who have never forgotten their roots. When older sister Jennifer is free of her judging duties on American Idol and in New York, she stays in her Long Island or Hamptons homes. Younger sister Lynda, a journalist, has interviewed her superstar sibling, and moved to L.A. in 2013.

James and Dave Franco
Raised in Palo Alto, Calif., the Franco brothers have spent much time in New York. The elder Franco, James, famously did his time in NYC as a student at N.Y.U., Columbia University and Brooklyn College. Although he has a home in L.A., he is currently in New York starring in the Broadway production Of Mice and Men. Younger brother Dave, who also lives in L.A., is often seen about town. Although, the two have never appeared in a film together, in 2008 they did join forces on a series of hilarious Funny or Die skits.

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen
The former California girls and Full House veterans have opted for a “quieter” life in the Big Apple. After attending (and withdrawing from) NYU, the world’s most famous twins eventually settled in New York’s Greenwich Village. Today, these billion dollar moguls have both retired from acting and shifted their focus to fashion.

Scarlett and Hunter Johansson
Raised in Greenwich Village, these twins still have love for their hometown. Hunter, who is older by three minutes, still lives in the city and is pursuing a career in politics. When Scarlett isn’t busy lighting up the screen or stage, she splits her time among her places in Midtown East, New York and Paris. Hunter appeared alongside his sister in the  1996 movie Manny & Lo.

Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal
While these siblings grew up in L.A., they have since made their way to New York. Older sister Maggie lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with her husband Peter Sarsgaard and their two daughters, while kid brother Jake was reportedly house-hunting in SoHo in 2013. They both starred in the cult-classic film Donnie Darko (2001).
