As the end of summer nears, we have to admit the inevitable: Good beach days are dwindling! This week’s Instant New York features one of our favorite places to spend long warm days, Rockaway Beach. This beach has bounced back with grace since Hurricane Sandy pulverized it nearly 2 years ago, and is one of the most vibrant NYC spots to flourish into a vibrant community for locals, as well as visitors.
It seems like these hot, sun-filled days will last forever, but alas they are indeed coming to a close. While you still can, check out the beautiful beaches of the Far Rockaways that boast great waves for surfing, as well as a growing number of spots to eat, drink, see art, and hear live music. If Rockaway is not for you, check out our list of the best beaches to hit within a train ride from Manhattan.
