About Bodies: The Exhibition
No other exhibit to date reveals the complexity of the human body quite like Bodies: the Exhibition. Bodies debuted in Tampa, Florida, in 2005 and has since opened with much acclaim in several U.S. cities including New York. Open daily at the South Street Seaport in Downtown Manhattan, this exhibit displays over 200 bodies and specimens that provide a surprising and informative introduction to the miraculous human body and the incredibly sophisticated design within.
This exhibition is largely organized by the different systems of the body – skeletal, muscular, respiratory and so on. You learn about these systems and others through up-close and detailed displays. Not only do these exhibits show just how complex our internal systems really are, but they also encourage a healthy lifestyle by showcasing what poor choices, such as smoking, can do to our bodies.
Bodies is open every day of the week and has extended hours until 9 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday night. It offers a remarkable opportunity for learning about what really goes on inside our bodies, but before entering, visitors should be aware that they are looking at real human bodies, not models. As one of ultimate science attractions in New York, this exhibit answers the big questions about what makes our bodies tick.
