About the Greenwich Village Comedy Club
Legendary New York comedy club owner Al Martin (of Broadway Comedy Club and New York Comedy Club fame) has opened his third club, the Greenwich Village Comedy Club, located on one of the most legendary streets in the Village, MacDougal. Seven nights a week, the club is home to some of the city’s top comedians from America’s favorite movies and TV shows, including Kevin Meaney, Judah Freidlander, and Saturday Night Live’s Dean Edwards. Every night includes at least one headliners’ show; other evenings feature a mix of one-man and one-woman shows, open mics, and audition nights for a slot in Dustin Chafin’s Comedy Thunderdome.
Greenwich Village Comedy Club is also home to the New York Comedy School, taught by owner Al Martin and Chris Murphy, who has appeared on Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (for which he was also a contributing writer).
Between 90 minutes and two hours, depending on the night’s lineup. Each of the shows features at least four national headliners. Show times are Sunday through Thursday at 9:30pm, Friday at 10pm & 12am, and Sat at 8:30pm, 10:30pm, and 12:30am.
Purchase two tickets for a show Sunday through Thursday nights and receive a free appetizer!
The Greenwich Village Comedy Club has a two-drink minimum for all shows (non-alcoholic drinks can be applied toward the minimum). The dress code is casual, meaning jeans and sneakers are allowed. Food is served at the club; the menu includes nachos, chicken strips, hot wings, pizza, Nathan’s hot dogs and Junior’s cheesecake.
Did you know?
In addition to hosting nightly shows, the Greenwich Village Comedy Club is home to comedy classes for those dreaming of being in the limelight themselves.
Budding comedians can test their skills during the Greenwich Village Comedy Club’s open mic nights.
Do you like to laugh? Then this is the perfect spot for an evening out in Greenwich Village, be it on a weekend or weekday night. And with four headliners per show, the odds are good you’ll chuckle at least a handful of times.
Good for kids?
It depends on your definition of “kid.” The minimum age to enter with an adult is 16; without an adult, 18 is the minimum age. And, of course, you must be 21 or older with a valid ID to consume alcohol, even if a parent is with you.
