About Stand Up NY
Consistently named one of New York’s top comedy clubs, Stand Up NY draws top talent to its Upper West Side stage. Robin Williams was one of the first to perform when it opened in 1986, and A-list comics such as Chris Rock, Jon Stewart and Jerry Seinfeld have continued in that tradition. It’s not just big-names who get the laughs here, however, as the club is also the place to see comedians on their way up the ladder. Don’t forget to take a look around in the crowd. You never know who may be sitting alongside you—it’s rumored that writers from The Daily Show and other comedy producers often head here after work.
A 2011 renovation by legendary club designer and nightlife impresario Steve Lewis (the man behind New York’s celeb hot spots Butter and Marquee) took this intimate club to more elegant territory with red fleur de lis wallpaper that incorporates the iconic comedy mask and two VIP sections. Given the room’s small size, you’re guaranteed to never be far from the action.
Though the main focus of Stand Up NY is the comedy, you won’t leave hungry. Appetizers and mains cover familiar but tasty territory as waffle fries, quesadillas, burgers and chicken sandwiches typify the offerings. There’s a vegan wrap and a modest selection of desserts—from red velvet cake to tiramisu.
Those who want to try their hand at comedy should sign up online for the club’s open mic, Monday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm. It’s $5, and you’ll get the stage for five minutes. There are usually 20 spots available each night -- it’s a good way to gauge whether or not you should quit your day job.
We have a full bar and menu (menu is delivered by Blondies Bar and Grill).
The drink minimum has been lowered to $18 per person, we now serve a variety of non-alcoholic options like virgin mojitos, RedBull, strawberry lemonade.
