About Bullets Over Broadway - The Musical
Woody Allen’s riotous comedy of backstage battles and artistic intrigue comes to its real home: Broadway. The 1994 film will be adapted for the stage by Allen himself and will feature period songs from the Roaring Twenties. Five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman (The Producers, Oklahoma! ) directs and choreographs. The cast will include Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Zach Braff (Scrubs, Garden State), Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos), Helene Yorke (Grease), Brooks Ashmanskas (The Producers), Betsy Wolfe (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) and Lenny Wolpe (Old Jews Telling Jokes).
When an aspiring playwright (Braff) gets his chance to see his show produced on Broadway, it comes with a string. In order to get the financing, the talent-free girlfriend (Yorke) of a mobster (Pastore) must be cast as a psychiatrist. To complicate matters, one of the thug’s lieutenants (Ashmanskas) turns out to be a genius at theatrical invention and secretly helps the author rewrite his script. Add an alcoholic leading lady, eccentric cast members and a giddy Jazz-age atmosphere and you have a delightful comedic cocktail audiences will relish.
Two hours and 45 minutes (one intermission)

Good for kids?
Some of the material may sail over the heads of small children, but those 12 and over should be mature enough for the story, which borders on the risqué but never crosses over the line.
