About Cuff Me: The Fifty Shades of Grey Musical Parody
Get ready for a wild night out as the Fifty Shades of Grey book series, the enormously successful publishing phenomenon by E.L. James, gets a hilarious ribbing in this spoof musical. The series concerns the bizarre, sadomasochistic relationship between handsome entrepreneur Christian Grey and naïve college student Anastasia Steele. Their twisted romance is played out in musical numbers using pop hits such as Rihanna’s “S&M,” Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” Madonna’s “Like a Virgin,” Britney Spears’s “Hit Me One More Time,” and Ricky Martin’s “La Vida Loca” with new satirical lyrics. The action is framed by scenes in a nail salon where clients are telling the story to one of the few women in America who has not read the books.
Written by Bradford McMurran, Jeremiah Albers, and Sean Michael Devereux and conceived by Tim Flaherty, all members of the Virginia-based sketch comedy troupe, The Pushers, Cuff Me features a four-member cast playing multiple roles. It’s a silly, inspired riff on your naughtiest fantasies.
One hour and 25 minutes (one intermission)
There is a small concession stand and you are allowed to bring drinks to your seat; seating capacity is 175, the theater is also a synagogue which leads to some very funny lines, given the erotic nature of the show.
