Glengarry Glen Ross Tickets

  • About Glengarry Glen Ross

The cutthroat world of Chicago real-estate salesmen comes to blazing life in this smash-hit revival of David Mamet’s 1984 Pulitzer-Prize winning drama. Oscar-winner Al Pacino stars as Shelley Levene, a broken-down hustler desperate to keep his job. The play opens in a seedy Chinese restaurant with Levene pleading with the pompous office manager Williamson for hot leads to prospective customers. In a blistering succession of scenes, we meet Levene’s shark-like co-workers – explosive Dave Moss, frustrated, dyspeptic George Aaronow, and finally, the slick sales-board top dog Ricky Roma, played by Drama Desk and Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale.

The second act takes place in the office where the various deals, schemes, and backstabbing plots converge in a shattering climax. Directed by Tony-winner Daniel Sullivan (Proof), Glengarry profiles the hyper-macho machinations of these famously ruthless Reagan-era office Rambos. David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter wriote, "[T]hese guys are fascinating specimens to watch as they navigate the vicious fray of office politics. The same goes for Mamet’s tautly structured play. With its fusillade exchanges and fat-free set-up, it remains a model of dramatic economy."

The play also received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best American Play and was nominated for Best Play by the Tony and Drama Desk Awards.

The all-star ensemble also includes Emmy winner Richard Schiff (The West Wing), John C. McGinley (Scrubs), David Harbour (The Merchant of Venice with Pacino), Tony nominee Jeremy Shamos (Clybourne Park), and Murphy Guyer (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, South Pacific).

Al Pacino played the role of Ricky Roma in the 1992 film version of Glengarry and was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

This is the third Broadway production of Glengarry. The original production opened March 25, 1984, starred Joe Mantegna and Robert Prosky and ran for 378 performances. A 2005 revival starred Liev Schreiber, Alan Alda, Gordon Clapp, Jeffrey Tambor and Tom Wopat and ran for 137 performances.

Both Joe Mantegna and Liev Schreiber won Tony Awards for their performances as Ricky Roma.

David Mamet worked in a real-estate office in 1969, setting up appointments for the salesmen, and used his observations of their high-pressure methods in the play.

    Good for kids?
David Mamet plays are famous for their high level of profanity and Glengarry is no exception. Leave the kids at home for this one unless they are very mature teenagers who will know enough not to imitate the pottymouths on stage the minute they get home.
