Broadway is famous around the world for its musicals. Not only that, but Broadway musicals comprise some of the most popular shows on the Great White Way. Broadway’s longest running show, The Phantom of the Opera, is a romantic gothic mystery that is set to music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Lion King is another popular Broadway musical that brings the animal kingdom to life with elaborate costumes and hum-worthy songs that are fun for the whole family. There are lots of Tony winners from recent years still going strong on Broadway. The musical Kinky Boots took home six Tony Awards in 2013, including one for Best Musical. Pop icon Cyndi Lauper received top honors for Best Original Score for the musical, which has gone on to become one of the top grossing musical shows on Broadway. In 2014, the Tony went to A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder while in 2015 the big winner was Fun Home, based on Alison Bechdel's award winning graphic novel. You can discover new hits on Broadway or go to celebrate the music you already know, including the songs of the Four Seasons in Jersey Boys and Beautiful, which includes Carole King's biggest hits. The hot new musicals can be hard to get tickets to, but if you book far enough in advance you can usually score tickets.
