Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres are the major league ice hockey franchise cheered on by the numerous hockey fans of Upstate New York. A member of the National Hockey League (NHL) since 1971, the Sabres have played for the Stanley Cup title several times, but have yet to hoist the trophy. After years of playing in the raucous old Memorial Auditorium, better known as "The Aud," the Sabres now skate in First Niagara Center near the Buffalo Skyway. A member of the Northeast Division of the NHL's Eastern Conference, the Buffalo Sabres face off against rivals like the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators, as well as the New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins.
