The largest of Affinia Hotels’ five New York City properties, Affinia Manhattan is also undoubtedly the grandest. With 618 rooms, a recent redesign by the Rockwell Group (whose work includes the fabulous interiors of many W Hotels) and an emphasis on relaxation and customized comforts, you’d never know you were in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Perpetually the hotel choice of the dog owners in town for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, pooches get special treatment at Affinia Manhattan. With Affinia’s "Jet Set Pets" program, dogs receive organic treats, a chew toy, and a canvas travel water bowl—all yours to keep after your stay. Humans might not get a chew toy or psychic but Affinia Manhattan’s expert concierge and TLC (Tender Loving Comfort) officers will make sure you get everything else you need, be it last minute or hard-to-get theater tickets, the perfect pillow (choose from a menu of six pillow styles), an in-room massage, a golf putter and golf balls, cooling gel eye mask or a guitar. You can also choose from a range of Experience Kits to enhance your visit; choices include a Fitness kit (exercise DVDs, yoga mat, and weights), a BYOB kit (with a neoprene carrier for wine or beer and a blanket) and a Walking Tour kit (with guidebook, map and an iPod loaded with an Affinia Walking tour). Affinia Manhattan is so eager to please that you could probably get that chew toy, too – whatever it takes to make you comfortable!
Families will love the spacious rooms, sleeper sofas, in-room kitchens, “Fun-for-family” experience kits and comfort-driven staff (kids can have a rubber ducky delivered for bathtime!). But business travelers are equally at home here. The Affinia name and “tippin’ hat” branding are thanks to Benjamin J. “Bud” Denihan, Sr., the founder of the hotel collection. Bud often wore a fedora and was known to greet friends and strangers alike with a friendly tip of his hat.
The Affinia hotel chain hired a CCO (Chief Comfort Officer) to handpick and train the staff in support of its TLC (Tender Loving Comfort) movement, ensuring the highest level of comfort for guests.
