About AKA Central Park
Steps from Fifth Avenue’s designer flagship stores like Tiffany & Co., Louis Vuitton and the iconic department store Bergdorf Goodman, the AKA Central Park is hidden on a quiet side street just one block from Central Park. This style-conscious choice is one of four AKA Collection properties in Manhattan and was designed to be more than just a hotel -- in essence, guests here have their own New York City apartment. The AKA Central Park has 134 suites including spectacular penthouses on the 17th floor with outdoor sleeping and dining areas and wood-burning fireplaces.
The AKA Collection specializes in sleek, spacious studios, one bedroom and two bedroom units for longer and more leisurely stays. Business travelers and families, not to mention celebrities such as Jennifer Lawrence and Richie Sambora, appreciate AKA’s signature fully stocked gourmet kitchens with top-of-the-line appliances, in-house fitness centers and in-room spa services.
AKA prides itself on “elastic living” -- stretching to accommodate guests' lifestyle needs. A private in-room chef is among the choices on AKA Central Park’s specialty menu of services, but those who would rather eat out will appreciate the lobby bar and casual all-day restaurant or the concierge desk available to assist in booking a table at any number of the area’s famous restaurants. AKA Central Park is also conveniently located within walking distance of Rockefeller Center, the Museum of Modern Art, Carnegie Hall, the Russian Tea Room and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Just in case the city’s usual delights are not enough, AKA Central Park’s concierge can coordinate classes for guests at the Trapeze School of New York or Scratch Academy, a school for aspiring DJ’s.
The AKA Central Park is ideal for a home-away-from-home experience and is a great option for travelers on restricted diets who want to cook their own meals. Its location makes it easy to get out and about to see concerts and Broadway shows, to shop along Fifth Avenue -- one of the ritziest strips of designer boutiques in the world -- and to exercise in Central Park and take in New York’s excellent museums. Advanced media and business services are a specialty at AKA Central Park for working guests, and the hotel also offers unusual programs like enrollment in their New York University-designed “Sleep School” for those looking to learn how to get a better night’s sleep on the road or at home.

Like an artisanal farmer’s market, this European-style café gathers some of the best offerings in the New York area under one roof. Expect simple, reasonably priced dishes made with local and organic produce like loose-leaf teas and handcrafted coffees served with Hudson Valley Coop milk and pastries from the Sullivan Street Bakery. Breakfast includes lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries and the all-day menu includes a steak sandwich, salmon burger or grilled fontina cheese sandwich.
This small mood-lit bar in the lobby opens at 5pm and serves contemporary cocktails, microbrews, wines and artisanal spirits. Two fireplaces are the focal point in the cooler months, but year-round this cocoon-like space is ideal for relaxing after a long day and for socializing with the other guests.
