  • About the Comfort Suites North Bergen

Travelers, like locals, have caught on to the fact that you can get more bang for your buck in this town if you stay outside of it. North Bergen, New Jersey, just two miles from Manhattan (minutes, thanks to the hotel’s shuttle bus), is one of the closest neighborhoods to Manhattan – often recommended to in-the-know visitors by in-the-know locals. Visitors will find clean and comfortable accommodations, superior amenities and the added bonus of skyline views across the Hudson River.

Guest rooms at Comfort Suites North Bergen are spacious and especially accommodating larger families; rooms include either one king bed or two queen beds plus a sofa bed, as well as amenities like a mini-refrigerator, microwave and 27-inch flat-screen TV. Efficiency suites have a kitchenette with a working stove and coffeemaker. Suites with in-room whirlpools are also available. Complimentary hot breakfast includes eggs, waffles, breakfast meats, yogurt, fresh fruit and cereals available 6am–10am. For early risers wanting to get a head start on their day's activities, the hotel also offers a Grab & Go breakfast bag two hours before breakfast is served.

The hotel's exercise room has cardio equipment and weights, and for business travelers each suite includes a work space and complimentary Wi-Fi. The hotel also offers faxing and photocopying services for guests, as well as meeting rooms for conferences or presentations.

There are many ways to get into the city from the Comfort Suites: The easiest is to take the shuttle ($6 each way), which stops frequently right in front of the hotel and transports guests to Port Authority. Driving is also an option. Depending on the traffic, it's about a 15-minute ride through the Lincoln Tunnel, which is just a couple of miles from the hotel. Once you're through the tunnel, you'll probably want to park at one of the garages just on the other side and take public transportation and/or walk. If you'd rather cross the river by ferry, drive three miles from the hotel to Weehawken, where you can park, and hop on the NY Waterway.

The most economical mode of transport into New York is to take the New Jersey Transit bus to Port Authority ($2.50 each way). The stop is just a half-mile from the hotel – uphill, however, so wear your walking shoes (which you'll need for most excursions to the city anyway). On the way back, stop by the Coach House Diner, an old local favorite open 24 hours and located right at the bus stop, for dinner or a late-night snack.

On the New Jersey side, the hotel is five miles from the Meadowlands sports and entertainment complex (Izod Center, MetLife Stadium) and Liberty State Park, and less than two miles from Hoboken attractions such as Carlo's Bake Shop (made famous in the TLC show Cake Boss) and legendary rock club Maxwell's, as well as the city's many excellent restaurants.
  • Discerning budget-minded travelers will find the amenities, spacious rooms, friendly service and affordable prices offered by Comfort Suites in North Bergen a welcome alternative to comparable accommodations just a couple of miles away in Manhattan.

  • The hotel's complimentary hot breakfast, served daily 6am–10am, includes eggs, waffles, sausage, ham, yogurt, fresh fruit and cereals. The hotel also offers a Grab & Go breakfast bag up to two hours before breakfast is served for early risers wanting to get a head start on their day's activities.

La Fusta Restaurant, right next door to the hotel, is a Zagat-rated Argentine steakhouse (with a nice selection of Argentine wines). Open noon–10pm Monday–Thursday, noon–midnight Friday–Sunday.

The Coach House Diner is a local favorite with a huge menu open 24 hours, and offering delivery daily 11am–10pm. The diner is on the corner of 10th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, right near the NJ Transit bus stop back from New York, so the Coach House is great place to catch dinner or a late snack on the way back from the city.
