About Four Seasons Hotel New York
The name “Four Seasons” is synonymous with luxury, and the New York flagship hotel – New York City’s tallest hotel – is perhaps this upscale chain’s finest example. With an address, décor and service that are the epitome of elegance, it’s no surprise that the Four Seasons New York consistently makes Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List.
The Four Seasons Hotel New York experience begins with its location: Posh 57th Street is one of New York City’s major east-west thoroughfares and notable for its upscale art galleries, boutiques and shops. Forget practical walking shoes, you’ll need a credit card when you stroll here, as you’ll find such high-end stores such as Christian Dior, Tiffany & Co., Chanel, Prada and Louis Vuitton along the way.
The Four Seasons Hotel New York’s luxuriously spacious lobby is an experience in itself. Designed by world-famous architect I.M. Pei, the centerpiece lobby features Art Deco lamps, blond woods, stone sculptures and limestone pillars that rise grandly from gleaming marble floors to soaring 33-foot-high, backlit onyx ceilings. Views of this opulent symmetrical lobby can be enjoyed from the I.M. Pei-designed Ty Lounge off the main lobby or from The Garden restaurant, with its forest-like interior presided over by sturdy African acacia trees.
The gleaming lobby sets the tone for the hotel’s guest rooms, which are spacious, well-groomed and stylish, with sparkling marble bathrooms, many of which have deep soaking tubs. As for the views? In short: Four Seasons Hotel New York is the tallest hotel in New York City and this, naturally, translates into excellent views of Central Park and the cityscape. The amenities are reliably top-notch: flat-screen TVs (including one in the bathroom), Sealy Posturelux Four Seasons mattresses, hypoallergenic pillows, fluffy robes, remote-controlled drapes, Bulgari toiletries, turndown service and twice-daily housekeeping.
The Four Seasons fitness center and spa offers soothing treatment rooms where you can enjoy everything from Aromatherapy Elixir and hot-stone massages to Botanical Balancer facials and strength-training programs. Guests can also take advantage of complimentary access to the hot tub, sauna and steam room in the spa or opt for in-room massages and workouts in Central Park.
Attentive service is also extended to families, with a children’s welcome program that includes helpful items like baby toiletries, cribs, bottle-warmers, strollers, coloring books and toys. And, the hotel has a family-friendly DVD and video library, and can offer babysitting services on request.
Did you know?
The Four Seasons Hotel New York will relinquish its title as Tallest Hotel in New York City (and third tallest in the U.S.) in late 2013, when the Marriott chain opens its 68-story skyscraper.
The Ty Warner Penthouse, which the hotel describes as “less a suite, and more a multi-layered work of art” features glass balconies and 360-degree views of Manhattan, and is considered one of the most expensive suites in the world. I.M. Pei famously came out of retirement to design the penthouse for Ty Warner, who bought the property in 1999.
Four Seasons Hotel New York is ideal for a broad range of travelers, especially those seeking luxury and the highest level of service. The hotel’s convenient location on 57th St. attracts visitors looking to shop and go sightseeing. The Midtown location, business center and attentive service appeals to business travelers, and the hotel does an excellent job at accommodating families, with a children’s welcome program and a DVD and video library for kids.
