About Hilton Manhattan East
Housed in a historic, red-brick 1931 building, the Hilton Manhattan East is situated on 42nd Street and Second Avenue, near the serene Tudor City neighborhood and amid Midtown’s famous skyscrapers – close enough to Midtown’s attractions to be convenient, but far enough to make guests feel more like residents than tourists. Walk east on 42nd Street and you’ll find the United Nations Headquarters; head west, and Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building, Bryant Park, the New York Public Library and Fifth Avenue shopping are all a short walk away.
After an extensive renovation in 2010, the Hilton Manhattan East reopened with fresh decor and a boutique vibe. The modern lobby contrasts nicely with the traditional architecture, with contemporary lighting, cream and brown neutral tones, leather club chairs, chic pink wallpapered columns and bright footstools in pops of purple and pink. Enjoy a cappuccino in the inviting lobby lounge or ease into the evening over a cocktail and a juicy steak at the Tudor Neighborhood Bar & Grill.
The contemporary theme continues in the handsome rooms, which have dark-wood furnishings and club chairs, and amenities expected of the Hilton brand, including down pillows, flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi, roomy work desks, quality toiletries and a coffeemaker complete with gourmet Italian coffee. The suites are clean, airy and spacious, starting at 330 square feet, and are ideal for business travelers or couples seeking a romantic retreat. Some suites include a living area, wet bar, spacious bathroom, and terraces with city views. Rooms are flooded with natural light and wonderfully quiet. As you drift off to sleep, you could almost forget that you’re in the middle of Manhattan.
Did you know?
Hilton Manhattan East originally opened as the Tudor Hotel in 1931 – a full 19 years before the nearby United Nations was completed – and was named after the surrounding neighborhood of Tudor City, the first residential skyscraper complex in the world.
Hilton Manhattan East’s quiet, well-appointed rooms in business-centric Midtown East, just one block from the United Nations Headquarters, makes it a solid choice for business travelers. The convenient location, but quieter neighborhood, is a good choice for leisure travelers who want to feel like locals (but also want to hit all the top attractions).
