About the Holiday Inn Wall Street
Even in Lower Manhattan, home to the gilded firms of the financial district, there's something for everyone. The Holiday Inn Wall Street, renovated in 2009 with comfortable, cheerful rooms, a 24-hour fitness center and kids-eat-free policy, well illustrates this point.
The Holiday Inn Wall Street's location could hardly be better. It's situated between three key points in this part of the city: the Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street and its environs, and Ground Zero. The bridge itself a must-see destination that also happens to be free: A walk east from the hotel will put you right at the foot of the bridge, and from there you can walk, bike or run over it, and the views of the city are stupendous. On top of seeing Wall Street itself (and taking the obligatory picture by the Charging Bull sculpture), the Financial District is home to one of NYC’s local-favorite drinking destinations: Stone Street, an aptly named hidden cobblestone corridor with patrons enjoying al fresco happy hour. Ground Zero is just a few blocks west. And while the Freedom Tower continues to rise, the 9/11 Memorial is already open – just be sure to reserve your free visitor pass online in advance.
The Holiday Inn Wall Street has an in-house restaurant, the Federal Café, complete with a bar and room service. If you're itching to sample some of the diverse cuisine in the 'hood, the immediate surroundings offer plenty of options. After a workout in the fitness center, you can choose between two dueling smoothie joints (Health King and Energy Kitchen) operating right across the street from one another. For a bargain afternoon snack, it’s hard to beat the price tag of Jou Jou Café, which offers $4 sandwiches, wraps and salads after 4pm. The nearby Pound & Pence (a surprisingly roomy second-story pub) is there if the craving for fish & chips or shepherd’s pie strikes, best washed down with a pint of Fuller's London Pride. There’s a Starbucks right around the corner from the hotel too.. And, for something a little stronger, Downtown Cellars is a wine and spirits shop that could come in handy if you’re lucky enough to grab one of the Holiday Inn Wall Street’s two rooms with a terrace. For an upscale dining experience, try Delmonico's, a historic restaurant and the birthplace of the Delmonico steak.
The Holiday Inn is a good bet for vacationers who want to see the sights in Downtown Manhattan, such as the New York Stock Exchange, Battery Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It's also a great choice for families, as kids under the age of 12 eat for free at the hotel's Federal Café. And if you're there for business, the free high-speed Wi-Fi, 24-hour business center and quick access to Wall Street can't be beat.
The hotel has a full-service restaurant and bar downstairs. Called the Federal Café, it's a family-friendly restaurant with placemats featuring an illustration of Italy's "boot."
Room service is available at the Holiday Inn Wall Street.
