About the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick
Many budget-minded travelers look for more affordable hotel options in New Jersey in order to stretch their dollars in New York. But if you expand your horizons a little farther than just across the Hudson, you'll find many great hotels in charming locations that offer their own rewards, as well as a comfortable home base from which to venture for a day in the big city. New Brunswick, a city of some 50,000 residents about 30 miles from New York, is both college town and business mecca: Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, has been located there since its founding in 1766, and many corporations call the area home, including Johnson & Johnson. The Hyatt Regency New Brunswick is in the heart of the city's Entertainment Center, within walking distance of the State Theatre, the George Street Playhouse, the Crossroads Theatre, the Stress Factory comedy club, the Zimmerli Art Museum, wine bars and many restaurants.
About a 45-minute drive to New York (or a 40-minute train ride on New Jersey Transit), the hotel offers luxurious amenities at very competitive rates. A $20 million renovation redesigned all the public spaces of the hotel – the lobby, restaurant, and banquet and meeting spaces – incorporating rough-hewn stone and rosewood to evoke the natural environment of the Garden State. The two-story atrium lobby's grand staircase and modern sculptures and artwork prepare visitors for the first-class accommodations and service the hotel provides. All 288 guest rooms include a 32-inch flat-screen TV, an iHome stereo with an iPod docking station, plush Hyatt Grand Beds, granite baths with Neutrogena toiletries and plenty of space to lounge and work. Some of the suites have dining tables, wet bars and French doors to separate the parlor and bedroom. Specialty accommodations include Respire by Hyatt hypoallergenic rooms and ADA-compliant rooms for guests with disabilities.
The Glass Woods Tavern reflects the hotel's nature aesthetic, with a forest motif branching throughout the 5,000-square-foot space, which includes the restaurant, bar, lounge, and private dining and billiards rooms. The lounge has 27 high-definition flat-screen TVs and a 65-inch main-event screen, and the billiards room includes PS3 and Wii video-game systems. Among the many dining alternatives nearby are some of the best restaurants in the state, including the Frog and the Peach, Daryl, Stage Left, Catherine Lombardi and Due Mari.
The StayFit fitness center has numerous health-club-worthy exercise machines including treadmills, stationary bikes, weight machines, resistance bands and balls, exercise mats and free weights. The gym overlooks the indoor heated pool and whirlpool, where guests can enjoy a refreshing swim and unwind after a day of sightseeing or meetings. YogaAway, available on the hotel's TV service, allows guests to work out in the privacy of their own rooms.
As a popular stop for the many business travelers who visit New Brunswick, the hotel has 33,000 square feet of function space, including three ballrooms and 29 flexible meeting rooms that can accommodate groups of up to 1,500 people.
