About New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge
Right up there with the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge is one of New York City's most enduring landmarks. It's also the most beautiful bridge in the city, boasting a wide pedestrian walkway for unforgettable views of the city's skyline. As its name implies, the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge is just blocks away from this historic landmark.
Walking into the Marriott's entryway, filled with lush greenery and burbling water features, guests are beckoned up an escalator into a huge lobby, decorated with, among other things, a painting of the Brooklyn Bridge behind the reception desk. This theme continues throughout the hotel, with some of the 30 meeting rooms named after Brooklyn-born writers, singers, actors and athletes. Black and white photographs of the area are on display in some of the guest rooms as well.
There are 655 guest rooms spread over 25 floors and two towers, making this Marriott a popular destination for wedding parties, convention attendees and other large gatherings, yet the common areas are so spacious that it rarely feels overly crowded. The fitness center, open 24/7, offers travelers nearly everything a gym at home might have – treadmills, elliptical machines and stationary bikes, along with a solid assortment of weights. The indoor pool is large enough to swim laps in and is pleasantly lit by glass walls during the day, and there's a small Jacuzzi and a massage room off to the side.
Guest rooms are slightly more spacious than what might be found in similar hotels in Manhattan, and the views from higher floors are terrific. On a clear day, guests in some rooms can expect to see not only the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge, but the East River and Manhattan's iconic skyline to boot.
The convenience of being so close to so many different subway lines means that much of Manhattan can be accessed within 30 minutes. For those who prefer to stay local, fun neighborhoods like Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens and DUMBO are just a short walk away.
Did you know?
The Brooklyn Bridge was the first bridge to straddle Brooklyn and Manhattan. Prior to its opening in 1883, visitors to the island had to take a boat. (Or swim.)
With a population of 2.5 million, Brooklyn has more inhabitants than any of the other five boroughs.
There must be something in the water, because Brooklyn has produced thousands of famous folks: Jay-Z, Henry Miller, Lena Dunham, Adam Sandler, Woody Allen, Joy Behar, Steve Buscemi, Joan Rivers, Chris Rock, and Carl Sagan, to name but a few.
Cadman Plaza park, located across the street from the Marriott, is 10 acres of green space that stretches from the Brooklyn Bridge to Borough Hall.
With Prospect Park and scenic areas like Brooklyn Bridge Park along the water, Brooklyn is fast becoming a wedding destination. Because of its large size, the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge is a popular place for lodging out-of-town wedding guests. The hotel does weddings onsite as well. The hotel also houses many conventions each year, offering attendees a convenient place to stay. Business travelers will find easy access to subways, a fairly large business center, and desks in each room. As any Brooklynite will tell you, no trip to the borough is complete without a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, so tourists will enjoy this convenient location.
