About The Peninsula New York
Famous for its grand Beaux-Arts building and white-glove service, the Peninsula is unquestionably one of the finest hotels in New York.
The Peninsula’s landmark lobby has the feel of a ballroom, with rich marble and a crystal chandelier. And upstairs, the rooms echo the lobby’s grandeur, outfitted in dark-wood furnishings, cream walls and upholstered chaise lounges. For excellent cityscape views, go for the Grand Luxe rooms on the higher (15–20) floors. The Peninsula is also a favorite among business travelers, with large work desks, free Wi-Fi and an in-room fax, printer and copy machine with a personal number.
One of the Peninsula’s stand-out features is the state-of-the-art fitness center on the 22nd-floor, with its glass-enclosed pool and panoramic views. In the summer, catch some rays on the wrap-around sun terrace that overlooks Fifth Ave. The Peninsula Spa by ESPA is also well worth a splurge, and has appeared on numerous “Best of” lists. (New York magazine, for example, named the spa one of the Top 5 New York Hotel Spas.) The Peninsula Spa encompasses 12 treatment rooms, an aromatherapy steam room and a private spa suite for two, where couples can get side-by-side massages. ESPA has created special Asian-accented treatments for the Peninsula, like the two-hour Thai treatment, which includes a full-body exfoliation, and a poultice massage. The spa also excels at Ayurvedic practices, which incorporates Indian oils, muds and herbs.
The Peninsula New York also offers plenty of kid-friendly services. The concierge can arrange for babysitting and fun, interactive experiences like a class with the hotel’s pastry chef.
The hotel’s fine dining and cocktail options will suit all moods. Power-breakfast at Fives, named for the hotel’s address (Fifth Ave. and 55th St.), or ease into the afternoon over hot tea and scones in the stylish Gotham Lounge. Take in the views of Manhattan while enjoying a drink at the rooftop Salon de Ning, which has been described as “Shanghai Deco.”

Luxury in the center of Manhattan draws sightseeing visitors who want to experience New York City in style. The soothing spa and rooftop bar are popular with couples, while business travelers appreciate the excellent business amenities and well-appointed rooms.
