About City Photographic Safari – Remember Forever
Want to take photographs of New York City that your friends will mistake for professional? And learn a whole lot of facts about the city as you're doing it? The City Photographic Safaris takes groups on three different tours around New York City – Times Square, Central Park and Battery Park – while an expert tour guide and photographer shares knowledge about the city and how to capture the best shots of it on your SLR camera. It's a tour catered both to newbie photographers hoping to learn skills in the best city on earth and to seasoned photographers who are interested in travel photography techniques.
City Photographic Safaris offers three different types of tours. Each tour is four hours long and is entirely a walking tour. The Uptown tour travels through Central Park, the Upper East and West sides, Museum Mile and the Bronx. The Midtown tour covers Times Square, Rockefeller Center and Broadway, with a final stop at the Highline to view the picture-perfect sunset. The Downtown tour goes through Battery Park and the Financial District, with a final stop viewing the sunset at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The licensed tour guides will share details about popular New York City landmarks as well as lesser-known, but no less photogenic, city spots. At each destination your tour guide will help you with camera techniques to get the best possible photo.
The tours require no prior camera experience, although everyone must come with their own camera. For those new to photography, the guides are on hand to teach you about camera basics, and how to utilize your camera for the best possible travel photos. For intermediate and advanced photographers, the tours are a great chance to shoot while learning information about the city and pick up tips specific to travel photography. Kids under 15 can take the tour at a discount and those under 8 are free with a paying adult.
You will also receive an additional 5" by 7" professional printed Luke Ballard photograph of one of the sites from your tour.
Did You Know?
A few years ago Cornell researchers analyzed 35 million Flickr photos and came up with a list of the 25 most photographed places in the world. New York came out at as the No. 1 city.
The study also identified the most photographed locations around New York City. Not surprisingly, Rockefeller Center, Columbus Circle and Times Square made the list. But the landmark that topped all those locations was the glassy, 5th Avenue Apple Store in Midtown Manhattan.
New Yorkers and visitors who want to see the city through the lens of a camera shouldn't miss this unique tour. All levels of camera experience are welcome. Each tour hits the "must see" spots for visitors who will come home with tons of professional-looking pictures from the trip. The tour also caters to New Yorkers seeking travel photography tips and tricks.
Good for Kids?
There is no age minimum for the tour, and kids 15 years and under get a reduced ticket. Children under eight are free with a paying adult. Just keep in mind that it's a four-hour walking tour, so it may be better suited for older children.
