About Downtown Liberty Tour
If it’s historic New York City you want, then Skyline Sightseeing’s Downtown Liberty Tour is tailor-made for you. Hop on one of Skyline’s new state-of-the-art tour buses and prepare to sail past iconic landmarks from midtown to downtown, learning about the city as you go. This tour offers views of iconic New York City skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building, the Flatiron Building, and One World Trade Center, under construction at the World Trade Center site. If it’s culture you want (or just a tasty lunch), hop off and explore the narrow winding streets, restaurants, and mom and pop shops of Chinatown and Little Italy, or engage in a spot of retail therapy at the boutiques in SoHo, New York’s most fashionable shopping destination. Jump back on the bus as it cruises downtown past Wall Street and the city’s hardworking Financial District toward the southern tip of Manhattan, where you’ll be treated to views of the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. From Times Square to Battery Park and back again, the Downtown Liberty Tour delivers the historic New York City experience you could never get in one day on foot.
Skyline Sightseeing, one of New York City’s newest bus tour operators, offers an ever-increasing fleet of up-to-date tour buses featuring all the latest technologies to make your tour as smooth and comfortable as possible. Skyline’s open-top double-decker buses are painted a cheerful, bright orange color, making them easy to spot in traffic, and come equipped with air conditioning on the lower level and floor board heating on the upper level. All buses also feature multilingual audio technology available in nine different languages (French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, Italian, Korean and English) and are handicapped accessible, meaning all visitors to New York City can participate on one of Skyline’s tours. Add to that helpful, knowledgeable, tour guides and a toll-free number to call for assistance or to check on the location of the next available bus, and you’re in for a pleasing, stress-free touring experience.
Approximately two-and-a-half to three hours (for the full loop without stopping; timing depends on traffic)
Downtown Liberty Tour buses depart continuously between 8am and 5pm every 17 to 20 minutes. Tours operate rain or shine, so if you plan on riding on the upper level or hopping on and off the bus, make sure to bring appropriate gear for the weather (umbrella, poncho, sunscreen, hat, etc.). Also note that buses are not equipped with bathrooms.
Did you know?
Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood is named for its location: South of Houston Street. Manhattan has two other downtown neighborhoods also named in a similar fashion: TriBeCa (Triangle Below Canal Street) and NoLiTa (North of Little Italy).
One World Trade Center (formerly known as “the Freedom Tower”) will, once completed, be the tallest building in the U.S.A. at 1,776 feet tall.
This tour is perfect for visitors to New York City who have limited time to see the sights, but don’t want to miss anything. Because you can hop on and off when you like, visitors can choose which sights deserve an up-close inspection, and whizz by locations of lesser interest. This tour is also perfect for those with mobility issues, since all buses are handicapped accessible. History buffs will also appreciate the tour’s ambitious roster of historic points of interest.
Good for kids?
This tour is great for kids, who will enjoy the view from the top level of Skyline’s double-decker bus fleet. Kids will also appreciate the views of the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge.
