About NYC Skyline Segway Tour
What a way to see the city -- aboard an eco-friendly, easily maneuverable Segway, led by a guide who takes you through New Jersey’s Liberty State Park, a massive site with knockout waterfront views of Manhattan and beyond. In the NYC Skyline Segway Tour, you’ll also hear fascinating historical facts and intriguing anecdotes for an all-around great time.
Here are the basics: Your mode of transportation is a Segway, a self-balancing, motorized vehicle that intuitively follows your body’s motions as you stand upright, moving at slow to moderate speeds that you control. It’s easy to master, and once you’ve got it, you’re off and seeing the sights.
The beauty part? This ride offers a wonderful vantage point for a tour of some of New York’s most glorious vistas. Faster than walking but more immersive than a bus excursion, the NYC Skyline Segway tour gives you some spectacular views of Manhattan from sea level -- and from across the Hudson River. You’ll see iconic skyscrapers like the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building. The light can be breathtaking as it reflects off one of the most famous skylines in the world. You’ll also glide by some of the most noted sites this part of New Jersey has to offer, like the Empty Sky Memorial to 9/11, Goldman Sachs’ gleaming office tower and the trendy W Hotel.
Plus, your tour will include stops for lots of photo ops of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, just across New York Harbor, at the southern end of Manhattan and Jersey City, along with views of Governor’s Island and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
Your tour is led by a highly knowledgeable guide who’ll provide back stories and give you plenty of moments to take it all in, along with time to relax and soak up the atmosphere along the way.
There are lots of ways to see the city, but this tour is one of the more memorable. You’re at sea level and less than a mile away from Manhattan, allowing you to see the big picture in a way that few people experience. Plus, Liberty State Park offers 270-degree views. And come on, don’t you want to be able to tell your friends you saw it all by Segway?
Note that participants must be between 100 and 260 pounds, and pregnant women aren’t allowed. Admission includes the Segway itself, a helmet, a tour guide and a bottle of water. Gratuity is extra.
The tour lasts two hours, including a 20-minute Segway lesson.
The NYC Skyline Segway Tour is offered from May 1 to Sept. 30.
